The title of Emeritus Professor and Emeritus Researcher is conferred by Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) on retired professors and researchers who have had an outstanding impact on the academic community. The Department of Physics at Técnico is pleased to honour those who have contributed to making it the leading Department in Portugal and an international benchmark.
The ceremony to confer the Title of Emeritus Professor of Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) to Professor Gustavo Castelo-Branco and Professor Jorge Romão, and the title of Emeritus Researcher to Dr. Emílio Ribeiro will take place on July 19, from 4.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., at Técnico Congress Centre (Civil engineering building).

16:10 – Professor João Paulo Silva (introducing Prof. Gustavo Castelo Branco).
16:15 – Ceremony to confer the title of Emeritus Professor of ULisboa to Professor Gustavo Castelo Branco.
16:20 – Professor Gustavo Castelo Branco: “Particle Physics in Portugal, DFIST and LEFT”.
16:35 – Professor João Seixas (introducing Dr. Emílio Ribeiro).
16:40 – Ceremony to confer the title of Emeritus Researcher of ULisboa to Dr. Emílio Ribeiro.
16:45 – Dr. Emílio Ribeiro: “Fifteen minutes in a July afternoon”.
17:00 – Professor Professor Mário Pimenta (introducing Prof. Jorge Romão).
17:05 – Ceremony to confer the title of Emeritus Professor of ULisboa to Professor Jorge Romão.
