Date: 22 June
Time: 3 p.m.
Venue: Técnico – Loures Campus
«On 22 June, the Loures Campus of Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, will host the inauguration of the new laboratory of the “DAEDALUS” project, an outstanding research initiative funded by a European Research Council (ERC) Consolidation Grant and led by Ricardo Araújo, a professor at Técnico and a researcher at the Centro de Recursos Naturais e Ambiente (CERENA).
The project focuses on one of the major challenges in evolutionary biology: understanding the evolutionary relationship between dinosaurs and birds, as well as the emergence of endothermy: the ability to maintain a stable body temperature throughout evolution.
This new infrastructure strengthens the scientific capacity of the Loures Campus, creating conditions for the development of high-impact fundamental research and fostering closer connections between science, the academic community, and society.
The inauguration programme will include a presentation of the project by the principal investigator, Ricardo Araújo, in the CTN auditorium, followed by a visit to the laboratory, located next to the animal facility.
The event will conclude with an informal gathering in the campus green spaces, near the laboratory.»
