Date: 14 June
Time: 7 p.m. to 7.45 p.m.
Venue: Lisbon Book Fair (Orange Square), Parque Eduardo VII
The university press at Instituto Superior Técnico, IST Press, is pleased to announce a 4-way conversation on the role of engineering and science in society and politics, on 13 June.
What contribution can female engineers and researchers make to the implementation of evidence-based policies and to fostering a culture of science?
In an all-female panel, unlike the more typical examples of male engineers and politicians, we invite female lecturers from Instituto Superior Técnico to discuss the implementation of evidence-based policy strategies, the importance of effectively communicating science and engineering for the advancement of society, and the importance of diversity and gender equality strategies in Higher Education and Science and Technology.
The event will take place at the Orange Square, from 7 p.m. to 7.45 p.m. The panel will feature four leading scientists in research, engineering, and science communication in Portugal: Isabel Ribeiro, Isabel Trancoso and Maria João Pereira, moderated by Joana Lobo Antunes.
This initiative is part of the official programme of the Lisbon Book Fair. The event is free to attend and invites members of the scientific community to engage in a conversation crucial for the country’s development.
Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, will attend the Lisbon Book Fair 2026, which will take place from 27 May to 14 June at Parque Eduardo VII. IST Press will represent Técnico at stand G27 / East entrance 3.
