Organizations must develop and implement more sustainable actions, not only to remain competitive, but also to respond to consumer demand and comply with new European legislation.

The Circular Economy is a key factor for any organization to achieve sustainability in its activity, which will provide a systemic view of the problems and find sustainable solutions that will help to reduce the extraction and the use of materials, and to recover end-of-life materials.

This webinar will take place on 29th July 2021, at 6 p.m. and will focus on the main principles and some practical examples of Circular Economy in various sectors.

Speakers
Ana Carvalho
Associate Professor in Operations and Logistics at the Department of Engineering and Management (DEG/IST). She holds a PhD from Instituto Superior Técnico and conducts research in the area of Operations and Logistics Management and of Supply Chain Management. She has numerous publications in international scientific journals and a vast experience as adviser for doctoral and master’s students, as well as scientific projects in close collaboration with companies, including Galp; Kaizen Institute; José de Mello Saúde; Jerónimo Martins; Greenyard Logistics; Henkel; José Maria da Fonseca among others. She has been honoured more than 25 times (e.g. Diploma for Excellence in Teaching from 2012 to 2019, ERP Eco Sustainability Award 2013; Green Project Award- Honourable Mention in R&D 2013;).

Marta Brazão
She holds a degree in Social Service and a Master’s Degree in Studies of Environment and Sustainability. She has worked on international cooperation projects in Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP), in the social and environmental area. She collaborates with the Circular Economy Portugal (CEP) association since 2016, in training and education in circular economy. She is the pedagogical director at CEP. She has also been involved in circular economy projects.
