The Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, created the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award in 2016 to honour her outstanding contributions as an engineer, alumna and national leader with a decisive role and impact on Portuguese society. The award recognises the academic achievements and professional careers of current and former students at Técnico, and highlights their contributions and the impact of their work.
Técnico is now promoting the 10th edition of the Award, which aims to annually recognise and reward two women who graduated from Técnico (alumnae) in the following categories:

- Young Alumna: a recently graduated from Técnico, under 27 years old by 31st December 2025, whose Master’s thesis has been distinguished for its scientific quality and whose academic performance at Técnico has been remarkable.
Award nominations in the Role-Model Alumna category may be submitted by any member of the Técnico community, including alumni. The application form must include the nominee’s curriculum vitae (maximum of 1 page, A4 paper format).
Applications for the Young Alumna category must be submitted directly by the interested parties using the respective form. The deadline for submitting applications and nominations is 15 September.
The award winners of the 2025 edition were Cristina Cachola (Role-Model Alumna category) and Diana Marques and Susana Monteiro (Young Alumna category).
