Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) and Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) announced the ULisboa/CGD Scientific Award winners. 44 researchers (24 awards and 20 honourable mentions) were awarded, of which 13 are Técnico researchers.
The awards – research grants in the amount of 6 500 € – will be delivered on November 28, at 17:30, in the Great Hall of ULisboa Rectorate building.
The award aims “to reward scientific research activities and encourage the submission of papers in renowned international journals”, says ULisboa in a statement.
Nine awards will be awarded to Técnico researchers, in the following scientific areas:
• Computer Science, Computer Engineering: Susana Vinga – Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores: Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID)
• Economics and Management: Rui Cunha Marques – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability (CERIS)
• Civil Engineering: João Ramôa Correia – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability (CERIS)
• Electrical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering (Avionics): Pedro Batista – Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR)
• Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering (Aircrafts): S M Sohel Murshed – Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+)
• Physics and Materials: Jorge Vieira – Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN)
• Geography and Territory (Physical and Human Geography, Territory, Urbanism and Planning, and Transportation Systems: Filipe Vilaça e Moura – Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability (CERIS)
• Pure and Applied Mathematics: Luís Barreira – Centre for Mathematical Analysis, Geometry and Dynamical Systems (CAMGSD)
• Chemistry and Chemical Engineering: Luísa Margarida Martins – Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE)
Four honourable mentions will be awarded to Técnico researchers, in the following scientific areas:

- Physics and Materials: Vasco Guerra – Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN)
