The 5th edition of Martim Lancastre Scholarship will support six Técnico students enrolled in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and Management. The signing ceremony took place on 26 November, in the Civil Engineering Museum, at Alameda campus.
“Martim’s dream was to be here, but although he isn’t physically present, he is here in spirit. It is a great honour to see six scholarship recipients with such positive attitudes and impressive results”, said Pedro Lancastre, Martim’s father and one of the many patrons of these scholarships, as he addressed the selected students.
Diogo Chalbert, founder of the Martim Lancastre Scholarship, assured that José Lopes (Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering – 2nd year), Carolina Cardoso (Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering – 1st year), Bruno Borges (Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering – 3rd year), Afonso Rocha (Undergraduate Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management – 2nd year) and Samuel Leal (Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering – 1st year) “are part of the family”. “It’s very exciting for us to witness your growth. This is a wonderful way to honour Martim’s memory”, he added.
Also present at the ceremony were the coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management, Tânia Varela, the coordinator of the Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering, Aurélio Araújo, and the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Paulo Fernandes.
The Martim Lancastre scholarship is one of over 20 scholarships to support undergraduate and master’s students at Técnico.
