Augusto Ramalho Rosa Scholarship supports civil engineering students at Técnico for the 9th time

The scholarship programme honours a Técnico alumnus.

The Augusto Ramalho Rosa Scholarships award ceremony 2025/2026 took place on December 5, at Técnico – Alameda campus. The 9th edition of the scholarship, which honours former Técnico student Augusto Ramalho Rosa, recognised eight undergraduate and master’s students in civil engineering.

Pedro Carvalho, one of the scholarship holders, explained that this scholarship allowed him to “participate in Fórum Civil, intern during the summer, and make a dream come true”. Tomás Oliveira shared that “before I got into Técnico, I was considering entering the job market directly”, reinforcing that “this scholarship made a huge difference in my life”. Vítor Valverde, Edgar Sousa, Beatriz Germano, Diogo Leitão, Pedro Ruas, and Filipe Lourenço also received the scholarship for this academic year.

The Vice President of Técnico for Academic Affairs, Francisco Melo, highlighted the importance of these scholarships in allowing students to “focus on their studies”, wishing everyone “a year full of academic success”.

Representing the patron family, Rita Schreck, daughter of Augusto Ramalho Rosa, expressed her gratitude “on behalf of the family” and assured the scholarship recipients that “it is very rewarding to hear you speak”.

Also present at the event were the President and Vice President for Pedagogical and Curricular Affairs of the Department of Civil Engineering, Luís Calado Martins and António Gago, respectively, as well as José Neves, Assistant Coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme in Civil Engineering.

The Engenheiro Ramalho Rosa Scholarship is one of over 20 scholarships to support undergraduate and master’s students at Técnico.
