Commemorative session focused on the impacts of psychosocial risks

Improving health and safety in the workplace was considered one of the most important goals of Técnico community.

commemorative session to celebrate the 2019 World Day for Safety and Health at Work was held this Tuesday, May 7th, at Técnico.

Professor João Gomes Ferreira, vice-president of Técnico for Facilities and Equipment, congratulated the people who organised this event, which he considers to be “extremely important”. “The fruitful cooperation between the representatives of health and safety at work and the facilities and equipment office, has greatly contributed to identify and solve many of these problems”, said professor João Gomes Ferreira, who hopes that “more results and some changes” can be achieved next year.

Lídia Silva, a representative of health and safety at work, shared the group’s working method and the actions developed during the mandate: “There are a lot of issues that concern us, namely overcrowded workplace, poor indoor air quality at work, the presence of dust at the workplace. We have reported these situations to those in a position to deal with it”. She also stressed the importance of working together to reduce stress at work and to promote healthier and safer workplaces. According to Lídia Silva, the protocol between Técnico and OPP, will allow to detect and to prevent psychosocial risks: “We can’t ignore the existence of these risks because they affect the workers, the teams and the organisations, so it’s important that we all be attentive and cooperative”.
