The workshop “From Saving to Investing: Learn How to Take Care of Your Financial Future by Santander”, promoted by Fundação Santander, took place on 15 December, at the Alameda Campus of Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa. The session, aimed at the Técnico student community, took place at the Abreu Faro Amphitheatre, and provided participants with practical knowledge for better financial management, addressing topics such as saving, planning, investment methodologies and risk management.

Among those present at the workshop was Duarte Gonçalves, a master’s student in Engineering Physics, who has been investing for around two years. He recognised the usefulness of participating in the event to clarify his doubts related to long-term financial goals, such as buying a house or saving for retirement. According to Inês Costa, an undergraduate student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, “it’s very important to have access to this type of training directly from professionals in the field”. She also added that the session gave her a new perspective on financial risk management, highlighting the idea that “the risk is not taking any risk”.

The workshop was given by Pedro Melo e Castro, Head of Savings and Investment at Banco Santander, who encouraged student participation through questions and the analysis of real-life scenarios.
