Research at Universidade de Lisboa ranks among the top of NTU Ranking 2020

According to the Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities 2020, recently released by the National Taiwan University, Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) ranks among the World’s Top 100 Universities in the “Research” category, as follows: Mechanical Engineering (52), Civil Engineering (57th), Environment and Ecology (73), Geosciences (94) and Chemical Engineering (100). ULisboa ranks 132nd in NTU’s Engineering subject.

ULisboa maintained its position within the top 200 in the world in the following fields: Agriculture (79), Natural Sciences (117) and Social Sciences (192).

ULisboa also stands out in Plant & Animal Science (82) Agricultural Sciences (84) Mathematics (114), Physics (118), Space Science (128), Electrical Engineering (130), Pharmacology and Toxicology (152), Microbiology (163), Computer Science (166), Economics & Business (167).

ULisboa ranks 182nd worldwide and 67th at European level. The Top 3 universities are Harvard University (USA), Stanford University (USA) and the University of Toronto (Canada), respectively.

The NTU Ranking was first published in 2007 by the National Taiwan University. This ranking system evaluates and ranks the scientific paper performance of the top 800 universities worldwide in the last 11 years (2009-2019), based on three important criteria: research productivity (accounting for 25% of the score) , research impact (35%) and research excellence (40%).
