Student Groups Forum highlights the changes brought on by the pandemic and the value of work carried out

Representatives of 43 IST Student Groups aligned strategies during an online meeting.

Discussing the activities carried out so far, understanding the changes that the pandemic will bring to the activities of the student groups, and defining strategies for the future, were the topics highlighted in the last meeting of the Student Groups Forum, held this Wednesday, October 7th.

The number of student groups continues to increase, as well as the activities developed. This meeting is a good opportunity for mutual support, helps to define common goals and to remember some important tasks and activities for this academic year that is just starting.

“The student groups are an essential part of our School and help the entire community to keep proactive”, said professor Pedro Amaral, vice-president of Técnico for Operations and Enterprise Relationships, who also highlighted the importance of AEIST and praised the relationship of these students with the services and governing bodies of Técnico.

Beatriz Isidro, member of the Pedagogical Council (CP), recalled the challenges faced during the past year “100% online classes, never tested or tried before”. Nevertheless, the student highlighted the “positive balance” at Técnico and the important role of student groups “that continued to do their work and did not give up on their activities”.

“I am extremely proud of these student groups that organise so many activities”, said Francisco Santos, president of AEIST. “It is very important to continue to encourage collaboration between the working groups”, he added.

Carla Patrocínio, coordinator of the Technology Transfer Office (TT @ Técnico) and Daniel Nunes, collaborator of TT @ Técnico who closely monitors these students groups, moderated the debate and clarified students doubts.
