This Wednesday took place the swearing-in ceremony of new members elected for the 2017/2020 term, as well as the new faculty (associate professor, assistant professor and full professor).
Professor Arlindo Oliveira, the president of Técnico, opened the ceremony saying “I want to thank all members who are about to cease their functions and greet the new ones”. He also noted that the goal is that “Técnico continues to be one of the top engineering schools in Europe”.
The professor said a few special words to professor Rogério Colaço, the outgoing vice-president for Administrative and Financial Management and member of the Executive Board for many years. Professor Luís Castro is the new vice-president for Administrative and Financial Management, while professor Jorge Morgado will be holding the position of vice-president for Human Resources and professor Fátima Montemor will be the vice-president for Academic Affairs.
The rector of Universidade de Lisboa, professor António Cruz Serra, also attended the ceremony and spoke about the importance of “faculty renewal”. “I am very pleased to see my colleagues and the new people who are joining Técnico. This is very positive and we should face it as our main obligation. (…) I am very happy to be here today and to see so many people attending this ceremony.”
