“I attended the event to connect with company representatives and start thinking about my first job”, shared António Mourisca, an undergraduate student in Applied Mathematics and Computation at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, at the 21st edition of Talent Bootcamp, held on 11 March at Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade. Throughout the day, the student clarified his doubts about the job market, acknowledging that “many [previous] ideas are not 100% correct” and that the event allowed him to “better understand both the opportunities available and how to connect with employers”.
Marina Nóbrega, an undergraduate student in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering at Técnico, attended the Talent Bootcamp with the same purpose. “I wanted to get to know the companies better, understand what they’re looking for and how I can develop my soft skills”.
“It doesn’t matter whether we’re undergraduate, master’s, or final-year students; the Talent Bootcamp provides comprehensive insights into the current job market and helps us make the most of our strengths”.
The event was attended by over 350 Técnico students and 200 professionals, representing a total of 162 companies (the largest ever at national level), and featured a series of practical sessions and opportunities for direct interaction that allowed participants to explore career paths and job market requirements.
“This is the largest edition of Talent Bootcamp ever held in Portugal”, said Rogério Colaço, president of Técnico. “This event provides an opportunity for Técnico students to connect with companies while they are still at Técnico, allowing them to prepare for their professional future”, he added, highlighting the long-standing partnership with Magma Studio, which has been in place for over 15 years.
Pedro Amaral, Vice-President of Técnico for Corporate Interface, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, framed the event within the institution’s mission to “fulfill Técnico’s third mission”, explaining that this involves “connecting students with companies and enhancing those companies through the talents of our students”.
Sofia Cabeleira, coordinator of the Career Development and Alumni Office, urged students to prepare themselves, emphasising that “it is very important for those looking for a job to register on the Job Bank platform and research the skills that each company requires, so they can actively prepare themselves and get a strong start in the job market”.
The Talent Bootcamp is a project by Magma Studio that acts as a strategic bridge connecting young talent and the business community, actively contributing to the preparation of Técnico students for the challenges of their future careers.
