Técnico filled 98% of the available places in the first National Call for Access to Public Higher Education

The School, which recorded a higher number of students accepted compared to the previous year, will welcome 1,656 new undergraduate students.

Out of the 20 undergraduate programmes offered, 18 filled all their available places for this academic year. Despite increasing the number of places available, the demand from students applying through the National Call was still very high. For the 2026/2027 academic year, Técnico will welcome 1,656 new undergraduate students.

A notable contributor to this increase in the number of places is the new Undergraduate Programme in General Engineering (GENI), which is taught entirely in English. It entered the rankings with a Minimum Grade Point (MGP) of 171.0 out of 200 and filled all 30 available spots.

The Undergraduate Programme in Aerospace Engineering has returned to the top five courses with the highest MGP in the country. Despite being one of Técnico’s most popular programmes, offering 135 places, it boasts the highest MGP of all programmes available in the Lisbon region.

Additionally, MGPs for other undergraduate programmes at Técnico have generally increased, with 65% of first-cycle courses requiring a higher MGP this year than last. In half of Técnico’s courses, the requirement exceeded 16 points.

Técnico will welcome new 1st and 2nd cycle students during Welcome Week, from 1 to 4 September.

Admitted students can find out more about the enrolment process and welcome sessions on the First Steps at Técnico website. In addition, they can receive in-person support regarding the enrolment process from members of the Student Support Office (NAPE), at the Alameda campus (Main Building), from 24 to 27 August.
