Description:
“Was there a temple next to the Roman Theater in Lisbon? The results of the archaeological intervention carried out in 2019 in a building on Rua da Saudade allow archaeologists to think so and even to reconstruct the history of what may have been a Roman temple in the ancient city of Felicitas Iulia Olisipo, as you can see in the exhibition. The reconstruction work started with a negative of a floor in stone slabs printed on the mortar found during the excavations that allows the reconstruction of the Roman pavement of the temple, with a very complex composition and made with stones from various places in the empire Italy, Turkey , Greece and Egypt. The show illustrates how, from ceramics, bones, stones, mortars and sands collected during an intervention, archeology manages to contribute to the knowledge of the city’s history “( Museum of Lisbon).

o Venue: National Society of Fine Arts – Modern Art Gallery.
    o Dates: from 24th November to 30th December 2020.
