TFIST holds virtual festival and pays tribute to Amália Rodrigues

TFIST – Tuna Feminina do Instituto Superior Técnico held the 1st Virtual Festival titled “Maresias”, available on TFIST YouTube channel.

The Festival included several virtual performances: Cientuna – Tuna Feminina de Ciências do Porto, Gatuna – Tuna Feminina Universitária do Minho, TunaF – Tuna Feminina do Orfeão do Porto, and TunaMaria – Tuna Feminina da FCT da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (UNL).

On 27 November 2011, Fado was added to UNESCO’s list of World’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. The closing gala of Maresias took place on 27th of November 2020 to mark this day. Tuna F won the Best Video Award, Tuna Maria won the Best Tribute Award, and TunaMaria won the “Tuna Mais Público” Award.

The Festival “Maresias” also included the debut video clip ‘Ao Poeta Perguntei’, a music by Amália Rodrigues, which was adapted by TFIST to honour the artist’s centenary.
