ULisboa is one of the top 200 universities in the world

Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) continues to gain a prominent place in the main international rankings, as demonstrated by the excellent position obtained in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2020. According to the list prepared by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, ULisboa ranks between the 150th and 200th best universities in the world.

ULisboa is once again the best university at the national level and stands out in the following indicators: amount of papers indexed by Science Citation Index-Expanded and Social Science Citation Index, number of highly cited researchers and number of papers published in Nature or Science. It is also important to note that ULisboa has increased scientific publication compared to the previous year.

Other national universities listed in the ranking are: University of Porto (301-400), University of Minho (401-500), University of Aveiro and University of Coimbra, (501-600) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa, (601-700).

More than 2000 universities from around the world were ranked in the 2020 edition. The analysis is based on six criteria that assess the quality of education, professors, scientific production and per capita production.

For the 18th consecutive year, Harvard University ranks 1st. Stanford University (USA) ranks 2nd and the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) ranks 3rd.

The Shanghai ranking was first published in 2003 and it is considered one of the most influential international ranking.

Academic subjects taught at ULisboa were highlighted in the Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) 2020.
