Doctoral students, researchers, professors and staff at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, can apply, until 1 July 2026, for two international training initiatives organised by the Unite! Widening project. The programmes will take place at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and include funding for travel and accommodation expenses.
The Widening Training @KTH programme: IPR, Knowledge Valorization and Entrepreneurship, which will take place from 8 to 10 September, is aimed at doctoral students, researchers, postdoctoral students, professors and other research professionals. Key topics to be covered include intellectual property, knowledge transfer and entrepreneurship, and the use of the KTH Innovation Readiness Level (IRL) model in the Swedish model of university innovation. Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) has six spots available for this programme.
From 5 to 9 October, the Widening Staff Week @KTH: Research and Innovation Support will take place – a training week dedicated to technical staff and professionals supporting research and innovation. dedicated to professionals who support research and innovation projects. The programme focuses on best practices for supporting Horizon Europe grant applications and project management, open science and data management, ethics, sustainability, gender equality, technology and innovation transfer. From Sweden to Lisbon: new training opportunities
From July 14 to 16, Universidade de Lisboa will host the Unite!Widening Summer School @ ULisboa: Innovation & Training Days, composed of three training tracks aimed at young researchers, PhD students and staff members:
Training 1 – Accelerate your ERC Pathway: designed for early-career researchers ready to take the next step towards a successful European Research Council (ERC) application;
Training 2 – Building Connections with the Innovation Ecosystem: targets PhD students interested in bridging academic research with industry and innovation ecosystems. It explores one guiding question: how can you position your research and skills to create impact beyond academia?;
Training 3 – Internationalise Your Work: tailored for administrative and support staff aiming to strengthen their role in internationalisation and innovation processes, developing skills to effectively build and sustain international collaborations that generate impact.
Applications are open until 7 July. Each participant may register for only one training track. The three programmes feature training actions, workshops, laboratory visits and practical training activities focused on research, innovation, and international collaboration.
As part of the Unite! Widening project strategy, which involves several professors and staff from Técnico, the two initiatives aim to strengthen the institutional capacities of the partner universities in the Unite! alliance, promoting international collaboration through the sharing of knowledge and best practice.
