Universidade de Lisboa moves up 22 positions in the CWUR world university ranking

ULisboa ranks 206th in the most recent edition of The Center for World University Rankings.

Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) ranked 206th in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), moving up 22 positions when compared with last year’s edition.

The results of this international ranking that assesses the quality of education, research output and the quality of faculty, were released this Monday, June 8. ULisboa is in the top 1.1% worldwide and ranks 1st at national level, among the 15 Portuguese higher education institutions that are also on the list.

ULisboa stands out among the world’s leading universities in terms of high quality scientific research performance, going up nine positions when compared with last year’s edition (173rd). The position of ULisboa in this ranking is also due to a good score in terms of quality of teaching (432nd) and quality of faculty (234th).

The CWUR started in 2012 and assesses about 20 thousand universities based on 4 indicators: quality of Education, measured by the number of a university’s alumni who have won major academic distinctions, alumni employment, measured by the number of a university’s alumni who have held top executive positions at the world’s largest companies, quality of faculty, measured by the number of faculty members who have won major academic distinctions and research performance, measured by the total number of publications and citations

This year’s top-3 is led by Harvard University (USA), followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and Stanford University (USA). Universities of China, United Kingdom, Japan, France and Germany, also stand out in this ranking.
