Técnico alumnus wins AP2SI Merit Award

The award-winning master's dissertation focuses on the resilience of connectivity between users and critical eLife sites.

João Domingos, former student of MSc course in Telecommunications and Informatics Engineering (METI), won the Merit Award from the Portuguese Association for the Promotion of Information Security (AP2SI) . “I am very happy to receive this award. Being recognised by AP2SI means that my thesis is important to the development of skills in the area of information security”, says the Técnico alumnus.

João Domingos won the AP2SI Merit Award for his thesis “Characterization and Monitoring of Critical Systems on National Internet”.

The students’ dissertation was carried out in collaboration with ICP-ANACOM and was led by professors Rui Valadas (Instituto Superior Técnico), José Brázio (Instituto de Telecomunicações) and engineer Paulo Pereira (ICP-ANACOM). João Domingos highlights “the theoretical and the practical component” of his thesis “and the fact that this work contributes with relevant information to the assessment of information security in Portugal”.

The award ceremony took place on October 26, which was attended by several higher education institutions: Universidade do Minho, Escola Superior de Tecnologia e Gestão do Instituto Politécnico do Porto, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, ISCTE – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
