«Instituto Superior Técnico will host, from June 11 to 13, the MIR 2024 Annual Symposium and Robotics Championship, a prestigious event organised on behalf of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s degree in Marine and Maritime Intelligent Robotics (MIR). The three-day event promises to be a hub of innovation, learning, and competition in the field of intelligent robotics.

The MIR 2024 Annual Symposium and Robotics Championship is set to be an unforgettable event for all attendees, highlighting the latest advancements in marine and maritime intelligent robotics.

Event highlights:

  • Invited Lectures: Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from three renowned researchers in the field of robotics: Ahmed Chemori from CNRS, Massimo Caccia from CNR/INM, and Lionel Lapierre from the University of Montpellier;
  • Industry Keynote: Vladimir Djapic, CEO of H2O ROBOTICS, will share his insights on the latest industry trends and future directions;
  • Poster Sessions: Two poster sessions will showcase cutting-edge research and projects by students and professionals alike;
  • Graduation Ceremony: The event will celebrate the achievements of the first cohort of MIR graduates;
  • Shared Experiences by MIR Explorer Graduates: Alumni will share their experiences and career paths since completing the program;
  • Robotics Championship: Teams will compete in a thrilling robotics championship, demonstrating their innovative solutions and technical skills.

Participants can also look forward to social events that include a Reborn Baixa-Chiado Walking Tour, a glimpse into Lisbon’s historic and cultural heart, and a visit to the Oceanário de Lisboa, one of the largest aquariums in Europe.

The main event will be hosted at the Tecnico Congress Centre, while the robotics championship will take place at Centro Náutico do Parque das Nações.

Students involved in the MIR international program will receive a prestigious double degree, recognized across Europe and providing full access to PhD programs.

The degrees are awarded based on the accredited master’s degrees from the European institutions where students completed their first and second years.»
