Alexandre Franciso

Alexandre Francisco is Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at Instituto Superior Técnico since 2018, and previously Assistant Professor from 2010 to 2018; and Researcher at INESC-ID Lisboa since 2010. He was Vice-President of the Instituto Superior Técnico for Academic Affairs from 2020 to 2023. He studied Applied Mathematics and Computation, obtaining the licentiate degree in 2002 and the master degree in 2004. Afterwards, he continued his studies in Computer Science and Engineering, completing his doctorate in 2010 and obtaining the habilitation in 2020. His research focus is on algorithm engineering, computational science and engineering, with participation in multidisciplinary projects in the areas of computational biology, bioinformatics, and network science.
