«The European Fusion Teacher Day, organised by FuseNet, aims to introduce nuclear fusion to secondary school teachers, promote discussion on teaching this field to students, and foster interest in fusion within secondary education. The 7th edition will take place on 2 October 2026, fully online, bringing together science and physics teachers from across Europe.
The programme includes a national session, featuring Bruno Gonçalves, President of the Institute for Plasmas and Nuclear Fusion (IPFN), who will address the challenges and progress in nuclear fusion research.
The international session will feature new free educational materials and their translations, talks by researchers from the international fusion community, and virtual visits to research facilities, including the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER) and the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about research carried out within one of the world’s largest scientific collaborations, as well as teacher visit opportunities to ITER promoted by the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER).»
