«A conversation between the author of the book, Leonel Moura, and Arlindo Oliveira, a professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, at Técnico Innovation Center.

The book “Inteligência Artificial: Manual de Sobrevivência” (“Artificial Intelligence: Survival Manual”) proposes a reflection on Artificial Intelligence as a structural phenomenon of our time. It is not about celebrating or condemning, but about understanding. AI is not just another technology. It represents a form of non-biological intelligence that has become part of the social, economic, and cognitive aspects of humanity.

The event will take place in the space currently hosting the author’s exhibition, “Art with Science,” which can be visited until the end of April.

Leonel Moura focuses on the application of robotics and artificial intelligence in art, fostering a new type of artistic expression based on the “creativity of machines.” Through his projects, he aims to enhance the dialogue between art and technology in the 21st century.

Arlindo Oliveira is a Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He earned his PhD from UC Berkeley in 1994, following his engineering and master’s degrees from Técnico. His primary areas of interest include Algorithms and Complexity, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Bioinformatics, and Digital Circuit Design.
Additionally, he serves as the president of INESC, is a member of the Board of Directors of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, and is an emeritus visiting professor at the Macau University of Science and Technology. He is a member of the Portuguese Academy of Engineering and a senior member of IEEE.
