«A new C²TN Academy Seminar will take place on 17 November, at 11 a.m., in the Auditorium of Campus Tecnológico e Nuclear (CTN), in Loures, as part of the Thematic Line “Earth Systems, Radioactivity & Cultural Heritage”.
The guest speaker for this edition is Heloisa Fonseca, Radiation Protection Specialist at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), who will present the seminar: “IAEA Standards on Radon”.
During this seminar, the IAEA Safety Standards that guide protection against radon exposure will be explored — including the General Safety Requirements Part 3 and complementary publications (SSG-32, SRS-98 and TECDOC-1951). These guidelines outline practical strategies for assessing, mitigating, and controlling radon-related risks, both in occupational settings and for the general public.
The speaker will also share the IAEA’s initiatives to support its Member States through training, expert missions, and capacity-building programmes in the field of radiological protection.»
