«VitaC is an engaging monthly seminar series designed to explore and highlight the latest research initiatives within the Center for Innovation in Territory, Urbanism and Architecture (CiTUA) at Instituto Superior Técnico, providing a dynamic platform for researchers to present their work, engage in various debates and promote innovation through collaboration.
Using the paradigmatic examples of the Claredale Street scheme (1954-1959, London, Denys Lasdun) and the Brunswick (1960-1974, London; Patrick Hodgkinson) it will provide an in-depth analysis of the two moments that characterised the fusion between old and new in London’s post-war modern mass housing. In addition to the design analysis, it will be also discussed the posterior role of these schemes as legacies disguised as waste.
