On December 14, at 12 p.m., will be held the conference “Astrobiology: Origin and detection of life in our solar system”, presented by Dr. Zita Martins (Royal Society University Research Fellow, Imperial College London, UK), organised by Centro de Química-Física Molecular at Técnico.

The origin of life on Earth and possibly in other parts of the Solar System is a mystery that has long fascinated humanity. In this conference will be discussed topics as wide as the contribution of exogenous sources to the origin of life on our planet, namely physical and chemical processes that have led to the asymmetric formation of chiral molecules. The participation of Dr. Zita Martins in future space missions will also be discussed as well as the methods of detecting extra-terrestrial life.
