The podcast “110 Histórias | 110 Objetos” (“110 Stories, 110 Objects”) covers the 110 years of history of Instituto Superior Técnico, through its past, present and future objects.
A collection of objects related to different fields, such as science, music, arts and sports, is the starting point for conversations with people who will tell us more about the history of these objects.
Extra episode, 23rd May 2024: 110 histórias | 110 objetos do Técnico (“110 Stories, 110 Objects”) – Técnico’s stone owl.
There was one more object after all. A stone owl signed by the artist Bordalo II. The sculpture of a young owl eager for knowledge is one of the first works by the artist to be made in stone and exhibited in a public space and includes metal material collected from the Técnico laboratories’ waste. The sculpture was created to represent all the objects from Instituto Superior Técnico whose stories could not be told throughout the 110 episodes of the podcast. Since February 2024, it has been at the entrance of Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade, next to the Arco do Cego Garden in Lisbon, inviting everyone who passes by to learn more about Técnico.
