International Day of Girls in ICT 2022

The 28th of April will be the International Day of Girls in ICT: Information and Communication Technologies (Girls in ICT 2022). Marked every year, this day aims to bring to the international agenda the importance of empowering girls and young women and their participation in these scientific areas. This is an initiative promoted by the United Nations Specialized Agency for ICT (International Telecommunication Union – ITU) founded in 1985.

Instituto Superior Técnico will join this initiative with the presentation of the GirlStem@ISTTaguspark project. On the Taguspark Campus they will be energized. on April 28, between 9 am and 5 pm, activities designed for both the general public and high school and Técnico students.

The activities will take place from 9:45 am to 4:45 pm and are subject to prior registration (the number of registrations is limited) through this form.

For secondary schools, applications must be made using this form.

During the duration of the event, between 9 am and 5 pm, the “ELÁs” Exhibition can be visited.
The eyes of the artists Rodrigo Romero and Fernanda Victorello, will join the international contribution to remind us that the bravery and dreams of illustrious women have left important marks in history. From the creators of the exhibition “Imperfeita” (inspired by the figure of Frida Khalo), the ELÁS BRUXAS project aims to demonstrate, through artistic and social languages, the indelible contribution of women, such as Marie Curie, a pioneer in radioactivity, and Katherine Johnson, a member of the NASA in times of space race during the Cold War.
