International Mother Language Day 2020

International Mother Language Day (IMD) is celebrated every year on 21st February all around the world. The primary purpose of celebrating this day is to promote the awareness of language and cultural diversity. Técnico is the connecting point of several students with a variety of languages, nationalities, and generations.

Técnico’s Asian Student Club (TASC), wants to celebrate this important day for the first time in Técnico on February 21st from 11:00 to 13:00. The venue for the workshop is Civil Engineering building, floor 1, room V1.09, and for the live music performance, the open area near the Civil Caffe is considered.

Program:
• Introducing the International Mother Language Day
• Teaching the alphabet of some languages by native students such as Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Germany, Hindi, Kurdish, Italian, Persian, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Urdu, etc.
• Workshop (write personal details and some elementary conversations in those languages).
• A live music performance following the occasion of the inscription of traditional skills of crafting and playing Dotar (Two Chords) on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage by Iran.

The workshop will be held in English, and attendance is free for all!

You can register as a volunteer to teach your language to other students, by sending an email or by a call.
