«Lab2Market@Técnico is a programme designed to empower teams made up of students, researchers, and professors to transform their academic technological solutions into sustainable and market-oriented business models. The programme is organised by Técnico in collaboration with NTT Data and i-Deals, fostering closer ties between academia and industry.
The 2026 edition will conclude with the final event, scheduled for 3 June, where the projects will be presented to the jury and the winning team will receive the António Brandão de Vasconcelos Award, worth 5000 euros. The event is open to the public upon registration.
Currently, the projects are progressing through different stages of development, spanning a wide range of scientific and technological fields and reflecting the diversity of research at Técnico and its potential impact across multiple sectors. The projects selected for this edition include:
- VEREFY (AI-Powered Disinformation Intelligence), from INESC-ID, focused on the use of AI to combat disinformation, particularly in contexts where information integrity, speed, and trust are critical;
- SculptingAI, from DEEC, combines virtual reality and physical interaction in a digital clay sculpting game, with potential applications as a playful learning tool and in the analysis of motor and cognitive impairments;
- Embedded AI, from DEEC, aimed at running machine learning algorithms on low-power, low-cost systems, enabling the use of AI in more accessible devices;
- Wool4Build, from CERIS, proposes a thermal insulation material made from reused wool for applications in sustainable construction.
The programme is now in its 10th edition, bringing together teams working on technological projects under development at Técnico.»
