«The Department of Mathematics at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, and TreeTree2, with the support of the international Náboj coordination, are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of Náboj Mathematics on 13 March.
Náboj is an international team mathematics competition originating in Slovakia (1998), organised by Trojsten. The name means “bullet” in Slovak, evoking the speed required during the competition.
Teams of 5 students from the same school have 120 minutes to solve as many problems as possible, with increasing difficulty.
Each team starts with 6 problems and receives a new one each time they submit a correct answer. Solutions are numerical values. There are two categories: Junior (up to 10th grade) and Senior (11th–12th grades). The competition takes place simultaneously in 12 countries: Austria, Czechia, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Morocco, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
The 1st edition held in Portugal took place on 14 March 2025 at Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade, with 32 teams and around 150 students. One year later, the growth is remarkable: the 2nd edition brings together 100 teams — approximately 500 students and 100 accompanying teachers — from schools across the country, including Viana do Castelo, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Covilhã, Faro, Lagos, Portimão, and many others.»
Participation is free and includes lunch.
