«The Naval Engineering Students’ Organisation (NAEN) will organise the XIII Naval Engineering Conference, in Abreu Faro Amphitheatre (Interdisciplinary Building). This year, the naval conference will take place over one and a half days, on 24 and 25 February, bringing together students, academic staff and several leading companies from the naval sector.
The conference is part of the Técnico Career Weeks and will feature a series of technical and institutional talks, with the aim of promoting knowledge exchange between academia and industry. Throughout the event, companies and organisations such as Trimarine, TADEK, Vera Navis, Det Norske Veritas, Wavelength Technology Centre, Estaleiros Navais de Peniche and Catana Group will be present, addressing current and strategic topics within the sector.
The lectures include various topics, including the construction of yachts using advanced composite materials, challenges and recent developments in offshore renewable energies, naval design, the role of classification societies in accident prevention, innovative design as a competitive advantage, and the decarbonisation of maritime transport through alternative fuels and the handling of liquefied gases.
The first day, 24 February, will begin with check-in at 9:00 a.m., followed by the opening session at 9:30 a.m., and will continue throughout the day with several presentations. The programme will conclude with an Alumni Panel, where former students will share their academic and professional experiences.
The Round Tables session – NAEN Tables, will take place on the morning of 25 February, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.This session will provide a more informal environment for interaction, allowing students to engage directly with company representatives, ask questions and exchange ideas about their future professional careers in the naval sector.»
