Date: May 5-9
Local: Técnico – Alameda campus
The Physics Week is organised by the Physics Students’ Organisation (NFIST) and aims to promote scientific education in Portugal. It has been NFIST’s main activity since its creation in 1995.
The event is addressed to students of all ages and aims to complement the science curriculum through experiments, workshops, lab visits, among others, and to disseminate information on what is being done in higher education, namely courses and career opportunities.
The following activities are noteworthy:
8 May, 5.30 p.m. – “Physics Week for the Little Ones”
“Técnico will open its doors not only to the academic community but also to their families. This evening will be especially dedicated to the children of researchers, professors, and staff members of Instituto Superior Técnico, offering them the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of Physics in a fun, safe, and interactive way”.
10 and 11 May – “Physics Adrift”
“On 10 and 11 May, NFIST will take science beyond the campus and into the heart of the city, transforming the entrance of the Planetário de Marinha (Belém), in Lisbon, into an open-air exhibition of hands-on experiments and interactive physics demonstrations”.
