How can we use data intelligence to design a more robust healthcare system focused on people’s needs?

On December 12, Instituto Superior Técnico, through its Centre for Management Studies (CEGIST), will present the project “Mais Dados, Melhor Saúde” (“More Data, Better Health”), a scientific initiative that aims to support the design and implementation of a model for secondary access to health data in Portugal, with technical support from IQVIA and support from Roche.

Over the coming months, this project will formulate recommendations for the development of agile and secure models for secondary access to health data, taking into account national and European initiatives already underway.

These recommendations will be based on:

  • Diagnosis of the Portuguese ecosystem;
  • Analysis of international best practices;
  • Focused discussions with a select group of national experts.

The purpose of this initiative is to obtain strategic recommendations to help Portugal create an effective health data access structure in line with international best practices. December 12 marks the start of this public discussion, with a view to presenting the project’s conclusions during the first quarter of 2026.
