«The Sustainability Unit at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, and URBEM are promoting a presentation session on February 26th regarding the development of the mini forest at Alameda campus. The session aims to introduce the project to more community members and reinforce involvement in the upcoming maintenance phases.

The session will take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., in the SDM room (Mechanical Engineering Building II), and will highlight the work on installing the irrigation system and the weeding process, which are essential for the growth of the species planted in December.
This will be followed by a guided tour of the mini forest, with explanations about the evolution of the space, its ecological objectives, and the role of the community in the coming months.

The project is part of the campus’s ecological regeneration plan and follows the Miyawaki Method, which promotes dense, biodiverse, and resilient forests in urban environments.

Community participation has been central since the beginning of the planting process. This session aims to encourage even more people to get involved. Under the motto “Be part of the community!”, students, professors, researchers, staff, and neighbours are invited to participate and contribute to the healthy growth of the mini forest.»
