Técnico will organise the 3rd edition of PROHITECH – International Conference on Protection of Historical Constructions from 12th to 15th July. The previous editions were held in Rome (2009) and in Antalya (2014).
This conference offers an important platform to researchers, engineers, architects and other specialists to present and discuss a wide variety of topics related to the protection of historical constructions. The topics range from structural and earthquake engineering, intervention strategies, materials and technologies, architecture and urban planning, represented by a showcase of diversified case studies covering different construction materials. A novel set of subtopics will also be addressed, such as sustainability, energy efficiency, re-use and adaptation to climate changes.
The conference will be attended by experts responsible for the preservation and rehabilitation of the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, historical bridges over the Danube River in Budapest and Greek temmples in Athens.
Due to its importance, this conference has the High Patronage of His Excellency the President of the Portuguese Republic and the support of Ordem dos Engenheiros and Ordem dos Arquitetos, as well as several construction companies.
The closing session will be attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, professor Manuel Heitor.
