On 27 October 2026, the Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, will host the first workshop of the SHADE project – Fostering Blind People’s Well-Being: Multisensory Sun Shelters in Green and Blue Spaces, dedicated to exploring multisensory experiences and developing inclusive spaces.

Funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), the SHADE project, developed by a group of researchers from the Centre for Innovation in Territory, Urbanism and Architecture (CiTUA), runs from January 2025 to December 2027 and aims to innovate support infrastructure on beaches and in green spaces, with a particular focus on sun shelters.

The workshop brings together the research team, students in the Integrated Master’s Programme in Architecture at Técnico, consultants and guests, in a programme that combines sensory experimentation, reflection and learning.”
