Once again , Instituto Superior Técnico joins the celebrations of the International Microorganism Day – IMD, whose objective is to disseminate, worldwide, Microbiology, the role of microorganisms in our lives, and the professional careers associated with it.
The celebrations of the IMD 2022, in Portugal, will begin on September 16 at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences (ACL), with a colloquium on “Microrganismos e Desenvolvimento Sustentável” (“The role of microorganisms in Sustainable Development”), organised by the ACL in collaboration with the Portuguese Society of Microbiology (SPM). The colloquium will take place at the ACL Main Hall and will be live streamed. The Técnico professors Isabel Sá-Correia and Rodrigo Costa will attend the event.
On September 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Técnico will organise various exhibitions, activities and games related to the role of microorganisms in Food, Health and the Environment, at Alameda campus (garden near the Chemical Engineering building). These activities are free and aim at all ages, especially children. The programme also includes a training session on Microbiology, aimed at Secondary School teachers.
