«The “Vencer o Adamastor” Award ceremony will take place on 23 July 2024, at 5 p.m., at the Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade.
The Award, worth €20,000, is an initiative of Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores (INESC) and Público Newspaper that recognises innovative works by young scientists in the area of information and communication technologies that reveal not only scientific excellence but also potential for economic development.
In the second edition of the Award, the Jury chaired by Prof. José Tribolet decided to award Manuel Goulão, for his work titled “Post-Quantum Secure Multi-Party Computation: Cryptography Fighting for a More Private and Egalitarian Future”, which focuses on developing an approach to preserve the privacy of communications in the face of the possibility of quantum computers capable of breaking the cyphers that have been used to date.
Manuel Goulão graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico and is currently a researcher at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, in Japan.»
