As part of the LIFE Food & Biodiversity project, IST and BCSD Portugal will participate in a webinar, on September 22 at 10:00 (Lisbon time). The webinar will focus on national initiatives involving the food industry to conserve biodiversity in the European Union.
Técnico will present its work on this project (2016 – 2020) and BCSD Portugal will present the act4nature Portugal initiative. The Leaders of national initiatives will present their actions to make the food sector a driver for biodiversity conservation. Food companies representatives and wildlife conservation organizations will talk about their motivation to become involved in food and biodiversity initiatives and their approaches to reduce negative impacts on ecosystems and restore biodiversity in agricultural landscapes.
This is the second webinar organized by the LIFE Food & Biodiversity project to demonstrate how the food industry can make a significant contribution to halting biodiversity loss through the application of policies, criteria and supply requirements.
Each session will highlight specific initiatives, practical tools and measures to protect and improve biodiversity at farm level. Speakers will give examples of effective biodiversity management within food standards and businesses in order to contribute to the EU Biodiversity objectives and the Farm to Fork Strategy.
Registration is required. The session will be held in English via Cisco Webex platform.
