«The Interactive Technologies Institute at Instituto Superior Técnico will host the free webinar “Doing Science with and for People” on November 21 as part of the Science and Technology Week celebrations.
The webinar will feature two European projects, LoGaCulture and Bauhaus of the Sea Sails, represented by Pedro Ferreira and Frederico Duarte, respectively. In addition to their local impact, these projects are strongly focused on sustainability, using new technologies to significantly improve the lives of many people.
The LoGaCulture project (Locative games for cultural heritage) brings together experts in location-based games to explore how this new generation of games can benefit society and enhance cultural heritage. The project includes case studies in four different countries where technology and art come together to improve the visitor’s experience. In Portugal, the case study will be developed on Madeira Island, where a game connected to the island’s natural points of interest, including marine megafauna, will be created.
On the other hand, Bauhaus of the Sea Sails aims to combat climate change through a multidisciplinary, intergenerational, and interspecies approach. This project emerged from the intersection of art, culture, citizenship, science, and technology, focusing on European coastal areas. The objectives include pollution reduction and the regeneration of aquatic ecosystems. The project carries out activities in aquatic environments in five countries. In Portugal, the focus will be on the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Tagus River and its estuary.
The webinar is open to all citizens and will include a Q&A session.»
