The “Women in Physics Student Club (WiP)” invites you to watch the film “Picture a Scientist” with us and to participate in a discussion about the film afterwards.
The documentary “Picture a Scientist” follows a biologist (Nancy Hopkins), a chemist (Raychelle Burks) and a geologist (Jane Willenbring) as they overcome brutal harassment, institutional discrimination, and years of subtle slights to revolutionize the culture of science. From cramped laboratories to spectacular field stations, we also encounter scientific luminaries who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.
