Workshop “Small water supply systems”

The Analysis Laboratory at IST will organise a workshop on the problematic of small water supply systems, on January 22, at Instituto Superior Técnico.

The general situation of the small water supply systems will be presented during this workshop, namely the situation in Portugal, Scotland and Serbia, as well as the new research methodologies of pathogenic microorganisms and the use of new approaches to monitoring events and risks of water consumption in small water supply systems.

This workshop will be an integral part of the dissemination of results achieved during the implementation of Aquavalens FP7 project and the application of platforms for monitoring water quality in these systems.

The workshop will be attended by several experts in the area and by the following participants of Aquavalens project:

• Jennifer de France, responsible for preparing the Water Health Organization drinking-water guidelines;
• Adriana Hulsmann, who will speak about her experience and knowledge on the European situation regarding small supply areas;
• Luís Simas, Head of Drinking Water Quality Department at Water and Waste Services Regulation Authority, will present the Portuguese approach regarding the small water supply systems;
• Arnt Diener, from the Water Health Organization, who will present the situation of water safety plans in the small water supply systems at European level, as well as the safety plans within the Protocol on Water and Health.
