In 2016, Instituto Superior Técnico (Técnico/IST) created this award to promote Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo’s outstanding contribution as an engineer, alumna and national leader with a decisive role and impact on Portuguese society.

Applications for the 6th edition of the Maria de Lourdes Pintasilgo Award (2021) are open until 15th September 2022.

The award aims to recognise and reward annually two women graduated at Técnico (alumnae), in the two following categories:

i) Role Model Alumna: a former student who has completed her studies at IST for over 15 years, by 31st December 2021, and who has made outstanding contributions throughout her professional career;
ii) Young Alumna: a recently graduated from IST, under 27 years by 31st December 2021, whose Master’s thesis has been distinguished for its scientific quality and whose academic performance at IST has been remarkable.

Applications

Role-Model Alumna: the award nominations may be submitted by any member of Técnico community, including alumni. The application form must include the nominee’s curriculum vitae (maximum of one page – A4 paper format).

Young Alumna: applicants should submit their applications using a specific application form.

The winners of this edition will be announced in November 2022.
