Professor Armando Pombeiro (Department of Chemical Engineering) has been elected member of the Academia Europaea. The aim of the Academy is “to promote European research, advise governments and international organisations in scientific matters, and further interdisciplinary and international research”.

This is the third time that a Técnico professor is elected by this prestigious Academy. Professor Maria da Graça Carvalho and professor João Sentieiro were elected in 2017 and in 2009, respectively. However, this is the first time that a Portuguese scholar is elected to the Chemical Sciences Section.
