The 4th edition of the Best Entrepreneurship Experience (BEE) took place from 6 to 12 March at Instituto Superior Técnico (Alameda campus), Universidade de Lisboa. The event brought together 23 participants in an “immersive experience” of the world of entrepreneurship.
Divided into eight teams of three or four members, the students had access to “specialised mentoring and practical workshops” with the aim of “structuring ideas, developing skills and presenting impactful solutions” during the week of preparation for the presentations, explained the event coordinator, Carolina Dantas, a Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering.
Diogo Almeida, a Master’s student in Molecular Science and Engineering, liked the idea of “addressing a business problem and creating a business model”. Inês Figueiredo, a Master’s student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, had been involved in the event’s organisation in previous years and did not want to “finish her master’s programme without participating” in BEE and make the most of the opportunity to “connect with companies”.
In the end, the groups presented solutions to the challenges set by the event’s partner companies. The winning teams were BeeVision (1st place), HIVE (2nd place) and Androlima (3rd place), who attempted to tackle the challenge “DroneDock: The Maritime UAV Challenge”, proposed by Navictus.
Additionally, BEE featured complementary activities such as “a series of talks dedicated to entrepreneurship and innovation, a job fair and workshops open to the entire community”, shared Carolina Dantas.
BEST Lisbon is a volunteer student group based at Instituto Superior Técnico that operates as a local chapter of the Board of European Students of Technology (BEST). It organises academic, technological and personal development events for the student community of Universidade de Lisboa.
