‘Change’ and ‘commitment’ were the watchwords of the Técnico president on the morning of May 28th. In his speech, Rogério Colaço argued that ‘the only way to keep up with changes in society is to have the capacity to renew human resources’. The event took place at the Técnico Innovation Center powered by Fidelidade.
The ceremony also included speeches by the presidents of the School Council (SC), Scientific Council (SC) and Pedagogical Council (PC).
Luís Oliveira e Silva, president of the SC, stressed ‘These moments are particularly important and a ‘moment of reflection’ because this is where we decide what we want to be [in the future]’.
Pedro Brogueira, president of the CC, congratulated those hired for having passed Técnico’s selection process and recalled that these professionals ‘will contact with the best students and the best talent’, which means that they will be able to recruit the best for their teams and, at the same time, be stimulated as professors.
The president of CP, Teresa Peña, welcomed the ‘high representation of women’ among those hired (also echoed by Rogério Colaço who, in his speech, emphasised that 52% of the newly hired people are female) and highlighted ‘three essential characteristics of Técnico: talent, innovation and the independence that [the school] gives everyone’ to follow their path.
