The Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) at Instituto Superior Técnico honoured Duarte Palancha and Filipe Araújo, the best undergraduate and master’s student in Mechanical Engineering, respectively.

The ceremony to deliver the Hovione Award to the Best Student of the Undergaraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering, concluded in the academic year of 2022/23, Duarte Palancha, took place on May 16, 2024, at the Abreu Faro Amphitheatre, in the Interdisciplinary Building, Alameda campus.

The awarded student described his academic journey as a student of the Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering, thanking his family, colleagues and professors who he made a point of highlighting.

The Hovione Award aims to encourage and value excellence in the academic performance of students of the Undergraduate Programme in Mechanical Engineering.

The ceremony to deliver the Apetro Award to the Best Student of the Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering, concluded in the academic year of 2022/23, Filipe Araújo, took place on May 20, 2024. The student thanked his family, colleagues and professors for supporting his academic performance as a student of the Master’s Programme in Mechanical Engineering at Técnico, as well as DEM, as a whole, for the appreciation of its students. Filipe Araújo, regarding his Master’s Dissertation, entitled “Alkaline Water Electrolysis: Ultrasonic Presence and Hydrogen Bubble Formation”, carried out within Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (IN+), also highlighted his supervisors Ana Moita and Rui Costa Neto.

The Apetro Award aims to encourage and value excellence in the academic performance of students of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
